Last year I went and had a wonderful time speaking to passionate people. Many of the vendors run their own small, eco-friendly business and have an interesting story about why they started their venture. One of my favourite booths was Preloved. They are a Canadian company that turns reclaimed vintage clothing and deadstock into gorgeous garments. Each piece is unique. They’ve actually up-cycled over 1,000,000 sweaters! Had they not been rescued by Preloved they would have ended up in the landfill. Preloved was founded by Julia Grieve who calls herself an accidental environmentalist. Her sustainable clothing is stunning. Preloved is feel-good (and look-good!) fashion.
While at the Green Living show I stocked up on environmentally-friendly gifts for loved ones. It feels great to give presents that help the world, small business and are one-of-a-kind. It’s also helped me get organized. Buying gifts last minute can make it difficult to find something special.
We can’t do a GREEN post without a song from our favourite green friend:
